The Greater Rockford Music Teachers Association, founded in 1970 in Rockford, Illinois, is a non- profit, professional organization of approximately 20 members. The membership consists of church musicians, college music faculty, and private music school and studio instructors.
The purpose of Greater Rockford Music Teachers Association is to elevate the standard of music teaching, and to encourage and promote the cause of good music:
· The GRMTA sponsors and organizes performance opportunities and workshops for music students.
· The GRMTA coordinates and supervises the
Illinois Achievement in Music Exams in the
Rockford area.
· The GRMTA meets monthly September through May for education and support of its members.
· The GRMTA offers scholarships to students
of GRMTA members.
Throughout the past 44 years, the members of GRMTA have dedicated their time and talents to provide excellence in music education in the Rockford area.
